Toby Lischko Comes to Garland!

At our October 3rd guild meeting, we welcome Toby Lischko of Gateway Quilts, who will give a program entitled "Curved Piecing Are not Dirty Words!"

From Beaufort, Missouri, Toby's kaleidoscope blocks are her original claim to fame. She has developed her own method of pinning for easy curved piecing. Non-guild members are welcome to come and hear her for a guest fee of $5.

On Saturday, October 7, 2017, Toby will be teaching TWO half-day workshops for the bargain price of $20 each ($25 each for non-Garland guild members). The morning class is Hourglass, which uses her curved piecing technique. It will run from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. A pattern fee of $25 is payable directly to Toby at the class. The pattern packet includes templates and the pattern required for the class.

The afternoon class from 1:30PM to 4:30PM is Un-Foundation Piecing 101, which also features curved piecing in making the New York Beauty block. It has a pattern fee of $30 payable directly to Toby at the workshop for the pattern and acrylic templates required for the class.

You can take one or both classes - what a way to spend a Saturday! Both classes will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 930 W Ave B, Garland, TX 75040. If you have not taken a workshop at the church since they installed their new lighting and air conditioning system, you will be very happy with these improvements.

For more information about Toby Lischko, check out her webpage at Gateway Quilts 'n' Stuff to see her quilts, patterns and classes. She also has a blog that has lots of pictures, including both projects she will be teaching.

For more information or to sign-up, please contact Vice President of Programs, Marsha Meeks.

2018 President’s Challenge
The President's Challenge for 2018 is animal quilts. Judging for the 2018 President's Challenge will be at the March 2018 meeting.

The challenge will be to make an animal themed quilt using either a pattern in the shape of an animal or animals or to use a fabric with a print with animals – such as cats, dogs, horses, cows, etc. The minimum size would have a perimeter of 120 inches and there is no limit to how large the quilt can be.
